Paraguay is a country in the heart of South America with almost 7 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil. The Rio Paraguay and the Paraná are the two largest rivers. The area around these rivers is a large plain. The east is mountainous. In the southwest lies the savannah-like area of ​​the Chaco Boreal. In the other part of Paraguay there is tropical rain forest and hilly landscape. There is a tropical climate. Capital Asunción has 600,000 inhabitants. Sights include the presidential palace, Casa Viola, a zoo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the House of Independence, Parks, a Botanical Garden, Casa de Cultura Paraguaya and the Constitution Square. Other important cities are Capiatá, Ciudad del Este, Concepción, Encarnación, Fernando de la Mora, Lambaré, Luque, Pedro Juan Caballero, San Lorenzo and Villa Elisa. The Jesuit Missions of La Santisima Trinidad de Parana and Jesus de Tavarangue are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Other places of interest include the Mennonite colonies, the Iguazu waterfalls, the Caacupé religious center, the Itaipú, the Indians on the Chaco plains, the Chaco war museum and the music town of Luque.
