Guyana is a country in South America with 790,000 inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Venezuela, Brazil and Suriname. Guyana has a coastline with the Atlantic Ocean. The landscape consists mainly of rainforest and mountain ranges of the Guyana Highlands. Savannah areas are in the south. Along the coast lies a fertile lowland. The rivers originate southwest in the mountains and flow to the Atlantic Ocean. There is a tropical climate. Capital Georgetown has 250,000 inhabitants. Sights are Stabroek Market, botanical gardens, the St Georges cathedral, the Museum of Guynana and the parliament building. Other important cities are Bartica, Vreed and Hoop, New Amsterdam and Fort wellington. Other sights include the Dutch forts, the Kaieteur waterfalls, the parks and the flora and fauna.
