Travel information United States of America - California : California is a state located in the American Southwest. Neighboring States in northern Oregon, in eastern Nevada and southeastern Arizona. In southern California have a border with Mexico. In the West the golden state has a coastline of 1400 km in the Pacific Ocean. Off the coast lie the eight Channel Islands. The capital of California is Sacramento. Sights include California State Capitol and Museum, Old Sacramento, Railroad Museum, Sutter's Fort, Governor's Mansion and the many amusement parks. The largest city is Los Angeles. Here were the Olympic Summer Games held in 1932 and 1984. This city is famous for its film industry in Beverly Hills, Hollywood (The Walk of Fame) and the sheet studios throughout the city. Other attractions are the beaches of Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu and Huntington Beach, Anaheim Disneyland, Griffith Park and many museums. Other major cities are San Diego, San Francisco (Golden Gate Bridge) and San Jose. California has a great diversity of natural beauty: mountains (Sierra Nevada, Pacific Coast Ranges, Tehachapi Mountains, Cascades and Klamath Mountains), volcanoes, hills, deserts, glaciers, forest, forests (with the tallest trees in the world), plains (Central Valley and Death Valley) lakes (Lake Tahoe and Mono Lake), rivers (San Joaquin, Sacramento and Colorado) and beaches. Other attractions include Silicon Valley, Alcatraz Island, the national parks (Yosemite and Death Valley) and Fisherman's Wharf.
