Peru

Peru is a country in South America with 30 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. The republic has a long coastline along the Pacific Ocean. The landscape of Peru consists of three parts. The eastern rain forests, cloud forests and lowlands in the Amazon region. The ridges are located in Central Peru. The highlands of Peru is the second highest plateau in the world. The coastline consists of plains, sand dunes, hills, sand and stone deserts. Furthermore, Peru has many rivers, including the Amazon, volcanoes and Lake Titicaca. There is a tropical rainforest climate with drought along the coast and cold temperatures in the highlands. Capital Lima has 8 million inhabitants. Places are ruins of Pachacamac, Miraflores and San Isidro, the Plaza de Armaz and the Plaza San Martín. The historic center is on the World Heritage list of UNESCO. Like the historic center of the city of Arequipa, the city of Cusco, the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu, the archaeological sites of Chan Chan and Chavin, national parks Huascaran, Manu and Rio Abiseo and geo drawings of the Nazca and Pampas Jumana. Other major cities are Arequipa, Cajamarca, Caral, Cuzco, Ica, Iquitos, Pisco, Trujillo, Huanuco, Tacna, Lima and Juliaca. Other attractions are the Inca Valley, the chullpass of Sillustani, the weaver Taquile Island and the national parks.
