Travel information Canada - Prince Edward Island : Prince Edward Island is the smallest province in Canada. The island is one of Atlantic Canada is linked to western New Brunswick by the Confederation Bridge. Northeastern is Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia lies south. It is surrounded by the Northumberland Strait and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The capital is Charlottetown. Here in 1864 the conference for the Association of Canada made. Sights include the Charlottetown Festival, the provincial government, Beaconsfield Historical House, St Duncan's Basilica, Founders' Hall and the Confederation Centre of Arts. Other cities include Summerside, Stratford, Cornwall and Montague. The rich cultural history is shown by the many old fishing villages, the many festivals and Celtic music. Nature in Prince Edward Island is famous for its red soil, rolling hills, pristine forests, white sandy beaches and coves. It is also called the "Garden of the Gulf" mentioned. There are many provincial parks and national park called Prince Edward National Park. Other attractions include the lighthouses of Cape Tryon, Seacow Head and Westpoint, the historical locations of Green Gables in Cavendish and Ardgowan, Fort Amherst and historic village of Orwell Corner
