Travel information Bolivia : Bolivia is a country in South America with 9.3 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are Chile, Peru, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. In the west there are two mountain ranges of the Andes. In between lies the Altiplano highlands of Bolivia and the world's largest salt lake Salar de Uyuni. Moreover, lies Lake Titicaca. In the southwest are deserts, salt lakes and salt marshes. In the east, mountain ranges, valleys and the valley area. The Amazon rainforest is in the north. Furthermore, volcanoes, savannah areas, pampas (grasslands), nitrous deserts and lowlands. There is essentially a (sub) tropical climate. Only in the highlands it is cold. The rainfall varies greatly by region. The capital Sucre has 250,000 inhabitants. The government is based in La Paz. Other major cities are Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Cochabamba, El Alto, Oruro, Sucre, Tarija, Potosí, Montero and Trinidad. A World Heritage Site city of Potosí, the Chiquitos Jesuit Missions of the historic center of Sucre, the Inca ruins of the city Samaipata Fuerte, the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park and Tiwanaku. Other attractions include the National Park Madidi, the Guarani Indians and the Uros, Isla del Sol, the Inca and Tiahuanacu culture, the coca museum and Laguna Colorado
