Travel information Antigua and Barbuda : Antigua and Barbuda is an independent country and consists of two inhabited islands. The archipelago consists further of uninhabited islands and rocks. The largest island is uninhabited Redonda. It lies on the border of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Antigua and Barbuda is part of the Windward Islands in the Lesser Antilles. The archipelago is surrounded by the following islands: Guadeloupe, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Saint-Barthélemy. Antigua and Barbuda is a member of the British Commonwealth and Queen Elizabeth II staatshoofd.Saint Jonh's is the capital and has 25 000 inhabitants. Sights include the beautiful beaches and underwater world. Especially for divers and snorkellers, there is much to see. In the capital, St. John's on Antigua are several old buildings from colonial times to visit. In the south, the yard to see Nelson's Dockyard. The site is named after the English admiral who lived there. Carnival is most celebrated in Antiqua. One famous event is the Antiqua Sailing Week. This is a great sailing event where visitors from around the world to come.
